Different States: Different Take on Legalizing Online Casinos
October 11th, 2010
With 50 states in the country of the United States, it’s no surprise that they’re all going to have a different take on the man issues of legalizing online casinos. However, seeing that this is a country that for the last few years has had to face severe economic problems, they have had to put their chips down and little by little more and more states in North America have increasingly turned to one or another form of gambling to plug their own budget holes.
It seems as though proposals to allow or expand online casinos that offer free slots are popping up left and right. These days, different movements from at least 14 of the 50 states are trying to convince their legislators and governors that this is a crucial time to make important decisions between cutting services (and jobs) or raising taxes and allowing the online casino industry to flourish once and for all.
Online casinos are frowned upon in the vast majority of the United States, even when they’re only offering free games like video slots or tables games. However, with the economy as weak as it is, lawmakers must consider budget-balancing alternatives which will hopefully increase money flow, job creations and opportunities to fund different types of programs simply by forcing taxes on an otherwise unused industry for the government. The land-based version of casinos hasn’t been particularly hit by the recession as opposed to other revenue streams of the country like income and sales taxes. This only proves that even when the country faces tough times, people will still turn to the industry for stress relief. For example, Hawaii, which one of the two states along with Utah without a lottery or any form of legalized gambling, is likely to welcome the change as the governor have already stated that they are open for discussing the online casino and gambling debate a way to close the state’s growing budget gap.

Cyprus Legalizes Online Casinos
September 17th, 2010
Even when you visit online casinos only for the free video slots or a hand or two of poker, good news are never out of the question. For many years now, the legality of online casinos has been up in the air. Especially in the United States. However, countries all over the world seem to be taking the opposite direction and finally accepting (and learning to tax) this ever-so popular industry.
One country to make the smart move is Cyprus. Cyprus is the third largest Mediterranean island and is located just 30 miles of Turkey. This location appears to be ideal for many online casino operators who have decided to move their business there. Places like the United Kingdom, even when fully regulating and legalizing online gambling, have added a high tax around it, much too high for many who have simply moved their business to places like Cyprus.
Cyprus has chosen to follow the UK’s example to solve their online gambling industry issues and regulate the business as opposed to shutting it down completely. Cyprus has taken a long look at what was been happening around the world regarding this topic and decided what would be best for their country by making the industry legal.
Different government agencies from around the globe who are looking to consider the possibility of accepting the online gaming industry take Cyprus as a good example. It wouldn’t be a total surprise if in the near future many other countries draft their new bills towards regulating and taxing the industry. Even when the gaming part is restricted to simply playing some types of tables games and exclude video slot machines or poker, online casino players could still take advantage of many other games. Players will also be able to enjoy these restricted games in a free version without depositing (or withdrawing for that matter) real money.
Twilight of land-based casinos
August 6th, 2010
The days of packing up and driving 400 miles to a gambling Mecca such as Las Vegas or Atlantic City are over. Gambling has evolved and has stepped into the internet with full force. Online casinos are now flourishing and are easily challenging the popularity of land-based casinos. Many famous casinos like the Mirage or Harrah’s casino hotels are feeling the impact of competing with the virtual world of online betting. Many people have begun asking themselves, why have to pay for gas, food, hotel to go all the way across the country when you can gamble safely from the comfort of your home? The reality is that gambling at home is much easier, can be done privately and without much inconvenience. Perhaps players are still nostalgic of having the whirling slot machine sounds behind them and feel the intensity of a packed casino floor. But, all in all, online casinos are taking the lead and threaten to cap the expansion of brick-and-mortar casinos.
Online casinos do have other advantages. As a reader to this site you probably love video slots. One thing that online casinos have excelled is in the releasing of new and improved video slots, unsurpassed by land-based casino slots. A particular casino group lead by the software and game developer, Rival-Gaming, have released a new video slot every month in 2010. These games have fantastic themes with quite creative bonus rounds and bonus features. As new and innovative games appear for online casinos, traditional casinos will have a hard time competing and may retreat to a secondary plane. The only chance they have is of getting their own online casino counterparts but, unfortunately, at the moment they cannot launch websites for their casinos due to tight gambling regulations within the USA. For now, online slot players are sticking to online casinos.

If it is a high-risk slot, then we recommend you look for medium or low risk slots, that will keep you playing longer, with more thrills.

Casino Tournaments for video slots
May 27th, 2010
One way to spice up your video slot playing is by partaking of slot tournaments. Online casinos often organize slot tournaments for their players and this provides an extra layer of exciting to playing online slots. The way it works is a bit different than in normal land-based casinos. The difference is that you don’t get the machines hooked up to network that will keep track of who has the most wagers. On land-based casinos often times you cannot even wager your won coins, you just have a limited amount of coins to play with. Those with the highest winnings will be the top tournament winner.
With online casinos the story is different. What you have instead is a time-frame in which you can make as many wagers as you can. You have a starting bonus and deposit amount and then you can re-play your own winnings. Obviously, the player that is getting the lucky spins will be able to spin longer since he or she will have more coins to play with. The luckiest and most perseverant player will often take the tourney prize that can be up to tens of thousands of dollars.
Not all online casinos create online tournaments for slots, but those that do often focus their tournaments on video slots. Video slots fans will therefore have another good reason to play their favorite games for longer hours. At the end, the very best may take home a bigger pot than the games themselves could confer. The idea of playing against other players, also makes the game more dynamic. Often times the casino will post daily the top ranking players of the tournament which makes it more competitive when you see your name on the top 10 list, as a potential winner of the video slot tournament.
